Bringing a car into Lithuania

Every figure below carries the document it came from and the date somebody last checked it. Where we have not verified one, this page says so rather than printing a plausible number — an unverified rate and a verified one look identical a month later.

It is stated here as reference, and no VAT charge is computed anywhere in this service: the rate is not the hard part. A used car bought from a dealer under the margin scheme carries no deductible destination VAT on the price at all, a private sale carries none, and a car that is under six months old or has at or under 6,000 km is a new means of transport and is taxed at this rate on the full price whoever the parties are. Which of those applies is a fact about the transaction, not about the country, and this catalogue does not hold it.

Tolls and road charges
No general charge exactNo general road charge applies to a passenger car. The line is drawn by vehicle category rather than by weight, so N1 vans under 3.5 t are charged. The e-vignette runs to 31 December 2026 and distance-based Via Toll replaces it from 1 January 2027.
the toll applies only to freight vehicles; private non-commercial passenger cars used by residents will not be subject to the toll.
The caveats below are the ones that attach to a worked example: a car first registered in 2019, which is old enough to clear every age threshold the catalogue models. A newer car can be answered differently, and the record above says on what.

- Transport, plate and administration fees, VAT treatment and customs duty are not modelled anywhere in this service. Nothing on this page is a landed cost.
