What is on the market
Every powertrain Norway publishes enough of to clear the disclosure floor, largest first. The share is of the adverts this service holds for Norway, so it describes the forecourt rather than the national fleet.

Bringing a car into Norway
What a destination charges to put a foreign car on its own plates is the term that dominates a cross-border comparison: on one identical EUR 15,000 car it ranges from about EUR 33 to about EUR 16,000 across Europe. Every figure below carries the document it came from and the date somebody last checked it. Where we have not verified one, this page says so rather than printing a plausible number — an unverified rate and a verified one look identical a month later.
Registration tax
—refusedNo parameter row for this destination. Registration tax is not modelled here and is deliberately not defaulted to zero — the countries that charge most would otherwise rank as the cheapest places in Europe.
VAT
25% exactNorway's general VAT rate, set annually by the Storting. Norway is outside the EU, so it is not in the Commission's TEDB and this rate is read from the Norwegian statute instead. As everywhere in this catalogue the rate is reference only: no VAT charge is computed anywhere, because whether destination VAT attaches at all is a fact about the transaction rather than about the country.

Tolls and road charges
Distance-based exactMotorway tolls are charged by distance travelled. Free-flow toll rings, city rings and ferry charges. There is no vignette.

The caveats below are the ones that attach to a worked example: a car first registered in 2019, which is old enough to clear every age threshold the catalogue models. A newer car can be answered differently, and the record above says on what.
- Registration tax in the destination is not modelled, so the charge is unknown rather than zero.
- Transport, plate and administration fees, VAT treatment and customs duty are not modelled anywhere in this service. Nothing on this page is a landed cost.
Where these numbers come from
Norway is one of 23 national markets this service measures daily from public marketplace listings. The published figures are aggregates: a median needs at least 20 adverts behind it, a quartile at least 50, and counts below 500 are published as a band rather than exactly. No advert, seller or individual price is ever published. The full method is here.
